Under the stars
The Hot Tub
A covered hot tub on the lower-level patio, with the meadow and tree line beyond. Best after the sun goes down and the sky fills up.
- Location
- Lower-level covered patio
- Access
- Step out of the Bourbon Lounge
- Listed amenity
- Hot tub
- Best time
- After dark, cool evenings
Local tip. The best seat for the view is the one facing the meadow. Keep your phone on the patio table and just look up.

How it works
- 1Lift the cover off and rest it on its stand or lean it clear of the walkway. Two people make it easier.
- 2Check the water temperature on the display before you step in.
- 3Rinse off or shower first. Skip lotions and oils.
- 4Use the steps carefully, as the deck and steps can be slick with water.
- 5Sit, soak and take cool-down breaks. Short sessions are safer and more enjoyable.
- 6When the last person leaves, put the cover back on and secure it.
- 7If the water looks cloudy, the jets will not start, or the temperature seems off, message Torrey instead of adjusting the controls.
Etiquette
- Observe quiet hours: 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Sound carries over open ground.
- Dry off before you walk through the lounge so the floors stay safe.
- Keep towels for the tub separate from the bath towels, and ask Torrey if extra towels are available.
Safety
- No glass in or around the tub. Bring plastic or acrylic cups.
- The widely used safety limit for spa water is 104°F. Do not stay in longer than 15 to 20 minutes at a time.
- Avoid alcohol in the tub, and do not use it if you are pregnant or have a heart condition unless your doctor says it is okay.
- Children only with an adult in the tub with them.
- Never use the tub alone, and do not submerge your head.
Temperature, controls and chemical care are managed by the host. Operating details specific to this tub are shared in your trip messages.
Out in the meadow
The Fire Pit
A ring of gravel, a metal fire bowl and an open view of the pasture. This is where the first night usually goes long.
- Location
- Gravel ring in the meadow below the lodge
- Listed amenity
- Fire pit
- Firewood
- Ask Torrey, who has delivered extra without being asked
- Best for
- S'mores, stargazing, storytelling
Local tip. Bring a pair of hot-dog roasting forks. It takes ten seconds of planning to turn the meadow into the best dinner table on the property.

How it works
- 1Use firewood only. Never use gasoline, lighter fluid or anything that flares.
- 2Build the fire small, and add logs one at a time rather than stacking them high.
- 3Keep the fire inside the metal bowl and the gravel ring.
- 4Need more wood? Message Torrey on Airbnb. Guests have received extra firewood without even asking.
- 5S'mores kit: bring marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers. Roasting sticks are best bought fresh at the store, or use clean green twigs.
- 6Fire out at night: spread the coals, pour water slowly, stir, and pour again until it is cold to the touch.
Etiquette
- An adult stays with the fire at all times.
- Keep chairs a safe distance back. Don't drag lodge furniture onto the gravel.
- Quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM. Move the story to the great room.
- Do not burn trash, plastics or treated lumber.
Safety
- Check for a burn ban before lighting. If conditions are windy or very dry, skip the fire.
- Kentucky's fall fire hazard season (generally October 1 to December 15) limits daytime open burning near woodland. Evening fires in the gravel ring are the norm; follow any ban posted by the county.
- Keep a bucket of water and the property hose nearby.
- Keep children and pets back from the fire.
- Never leave a fire unattended, even for a few minutes.
Fire pit rules above combine the host's listing with standard fire-safety practice.
Downstairs, behind the sign
The Speakeasy Bourbon Lounge
The lower level was renovated and opened in 2024 as a hidden bar for the people who came for the Bourbon Trail. A custom bar, a 100-inch TV and an arcade machine.
- Opened

- 100-inch 4K TV, plus additional TVs
- Extras
- Arcade machine, full-size refrigerator, leather sectional
- Glassware
- Engraved lodge whiskey glasses

Local tip. Tell your group to dress up for one night. The room was built for it.

How it works
- 1Head to the lower level. The bar is behind the speakeasy sign.
- 2Stock the bar refrigerator with drinks and mixers. The kitchen refrigerator stays for food.
- 3Use the engraved glasses for tastings. Rinse and return them to the board at the end of the night.
- 4Ready for a bourbon flight? Pick up a few bottles from the Bourbon Trail, set out a glass per person, and taste from lightest to boldest.
- 5Movie night: use the 100-inch 4K TV with your own streaming login.
- 6Murphy beds pull down from the wall. Clear the floor in front before opening them.
Etiquette
- Guests are sleeping on this level. Keep volume low after 10:00 PM.
- Wipe the bar counter after use and return stools to the bar.
- Leave arcade settings as you found them.
- Wash glasses by hand or place them in the dishwasher upstairs.
Safety
- Drink responsibly. Plan a designated driver for anyone who leaves the property.
- Do not climb on the bar or the stools.
- No smoking or vaping inside.
- Keep walkways to the patio doors clear.
The lounge is part of the lodge's headline experience in the Airbnb listing.
Thirty acres, all yours
The Private Trail
A cleared path through hardwoods, then out into open pasture with the lodge in view. The stretch in our film takes under two minutes at a walking pace, and much longer if you stop for the leaves.
- Land
- 30 private acres
- Surface
- Natural dirt, leaves, roots and grass
- Terrain
- Gentle hills, tree canopy, then open meadow
- Wildlife
- Deer and wild turkey
Local tip. The meadow at the end of the trail is where the lodge first appears. Stop there. That's the photo.
Watch the trail film
How it works
- 1Follow the cleared path from the lodge grounds into the trees. The film on The Trail page shows the route.
- 2Wear sturdy shoes. In fall, leaves cover roots and uneven ground.
- 3Keep to the path and stay on the property. Your 30 acres end at the property line.
- 4Walk out at golden hour for the best light across the meadow.
- 5Watch the film on The Trail page to preview the walk.
Etiquette
- Pack out what you pack in, including water bottles.
- Keep dogs on a leash.
- Leave plants, rocks and wildlife where they are.
Safety
- Tell someone in the group when you head out, and bring a charged phone.
- Check for ticks afterward, especially on ankles, waistbands and scalp.
- In November, deer season is active across Kentucky. Wear bright orange if you hike then.
- Don't hike in the dark.
A short film of this trail is on The Trail page.
Coffee, sunrise, deer
The Wraparound Deck and Covered Patio
Rocking chairs, ceiling fans and the Kentucky countryside. Guests mention the sunrise here before they mention anything else.
- Seating
- Rocking chairs, lounge seating, outdoor dining
- Comforts
- Ceiling fans, string lights
- Views
- Pasture, tree line, sunrise
- Grill
- BBQ grill listed as an amenity
Local tip. Rocking chairs facing east, one mug of coffee, no phone.

How it works
- 1Coffee on the deck at sunrise. Watch for deer and turkey along the tree line.
- 2Dinner on the covered patio, which has outdoor dining beside the lounge seating.
- 3Grill what you brought. Ask Torrey about fuel and tools if you need them.
- 4Switch off ceiling fans and lights when you go inside.
Etiquette
- Keep voices low after 10:00 PM.
- Don't carry glass out to the fire pit or into the hot tub.
Safety
- Keep furniture off the railings and never sit on them.
- Keep grills away from the structure and never leave them unattended.
- Close the doors behind you so insects stay out.
